When you live in South Austin rentals, you have no reason to go to the same restaurant twice. Sure, there are some incredibly tasty dishes down here in South Austin, but it’s also true that a new restaurant pops up every month. With variety like that, why would you restrict yourself to visiting one restaurant over and over again?
We apologize to anyone out there who insists on eating Torchy’s everytime they go out, but we also want to encourage you to mix it up. With that in mind, we present this week’s blog about new eateries in South Austin. Check out the post below, and be sure to share this link with your neighbors at your South Austin apartment community.

Austin has an amazing restaurant scene, but we’d be the first to admit that it’s easy to get stuck in a food rut. You can get so caught up in BBQ and Tex-Mex that you forget to try the other amazing cuisine that’s available in this town. If you feel like you’re stuck in a dining rut, we have a solution. Well, Atia’s Kitchen has a solution.
This new food truck is located in a food truck park with other eateries, but don’t get distracted. Make a beeline for Atia’s Kitchen and gaze at the mouth-watering menu filled with Pakistani cuisine. You might not recognize the names of the dishes, but they’re all made with ingredients that most people are familiar with like beef, chicken and shrimp. Next time you’re scrolling through menus on uber Eats without making any progress, close out of the app and drive to Atia’s Kitchen.

We’re kind of in love with this little diner on Oltorf and South 1st. It’s located right next to Thrive Veterinary, across from the Starbucks on that corner. This cute restaurant offers a contemporary take on the diner experience. You go in expecting a small town diner feel, but you get a stylish interior that still manages to give off a down-home vibe.
Some of Phoebe’s top-rated dishes on Yelp include the chicken-fried steak, the grits with goat cheese and the beet salad. The chef at Phoebe’s actually came from Fork & Vine, so if you’ve been there you know how good his food is. Fork & Vine is upscale and expensive, but Phoebe’s Diner is much more affordable. Check this place out next time you need a good breakfast for a low price.

This hip tex-mex restaurant has a new location on Machaca, and we’re so glad to have them in the area. If you’re used to the tacos at Torchy’s, El Chilito is a nice change-up. They specialize in puffy tacos, which are way better — for our money — than the double corn tortillas at other tex-mex places. Seriously, El Chilito puffy tacos might just change your opinion on taco-rankings in Austin.
El Chilito has a lovely atmosphere and is super dog-friendly. We’re still waiting for an Austin taco-joint to serve dog-friendly tacos, but alas. Your dog can still enjoy the patio while you enjoy the tacos from this new South Austin taqueria.
