Here at The Brodie, we pride ourselves on having some of the most pet-friendly South Austin apartments for rent. Our residents love taking their pets for long walks on the community grounds, and the apartments themselves are spacious enough to accommodate you and your four-legged friend.
The Brodie is a pet-friendly apartment community in a pet-friendly town. There’s a reason Austin is consistently ranked as one of the country’s top cities for dog owners. In addition to the abundance of pet-friendly apartment communities and pet-friendly restaurants and bars, there’s plenty of outdoor spaces for pups to explore with their humans.
Here are some of the best places to take your pup in Austin. This list could easily be 100 items long, but we tried to narrow it down to the four best spots in town. Also, we didn’t include the Green Belt on this list because obviously that’s the best possible place to take your dog. You just can’t beat that area’s combination of water, wildlife and interesting hiking trails. If you’re not up for a day in the wilderness, however, here are some alternate that aren’t too far from your South Austin rentals.
If you’re a big fan of taking your dog to a park with a view, there aren’t too many parks in the state better than the off-leash area at Auditorium Shores. Although it’s technically not fenced in, it is designated as an off-leash area so you don’t have to worry about making anyone mad by letting your dog run around. There’s also plenty of room for your pup to splash around in the shallow parts of the river. This area was actually recently constructed too, so you get to be in the first wave of dog owners to check it out!
Norwood Dog Park, on 35 and Riverside, is a much more traditional park than the previously discussed park at Auditorium Shores. Norwood is 100% fenced in and has designated areas for small and large dogs. There are chairs for owners to sit in while the dogs play with each other, and everyone there is generally very friendly. Norwood is a great place to go make some friends of your own as well as friends for your dog.
Some Yelp reviewers have noted that it can be difficult to find parking in the designated parking spots, so we recommend getting to Norwood early in the day to avoid peak dog-walking hours.
Alright, you got us; this one isn’t a dog park. In fact, it’s more of a playground for people than it is a playground for dogs. However, Rainy Street is incredibly dog friendly for a street that’s mostly made up of bars and restaurants.
The restaurant that’s most famous for being dog friendly is Banger’s. They have a huge outdoor area with picnic tables that are perfect for your pup to lay under. Icenhauer’s is another great bar for dog-lovers since it has a big outdoor area in the back with fire pits.
Many of Austin’s most beloved restaurants and bars are dog-friendly, but Rainy Street has the most concentrated collection of pet-friendly eateries. If your dog is behaves well enough to stay calm around a large group of people, you’ll love bringing the pup to Rainy Street.
Thanks for reading the dog-friendly blog from your dog-friendly apartment community! We’re sure your pup appreciates it just as much as we do. We’ll be back in a couple weeks with another post to help our residents get the most out of their experience at The Brodie. While you wait for our next post, be sure to follow us on social media.
